Do you know that there’s a new
way to find the books, authors, genres you love, and even the social
issues explored in novels?
Exciting news!
American Christian Fiction
Writers has created the most unique and amazing tool for readers,
bookstores, publishers, authors, libraries . . . anyone. It’s found at www.fictionfinder.com
and will introduce you to authors and books in quick, easy links. Find
the authors you love and compare their style of writing to other
authors in the same genre or style. You can even find the level of
content including romance, sexuality, horror, etc. at ACFW’s www.fictionfinder.com!
Sign up for your free account as
a reader, author, publisher, or publicist. Upload your traditionally
published work, or search for the book you want to read next.
What about book reviews?
Fictionfinder has that too! Read them or write them. We love your
input. A tip to writers: www.fictionfinder.com is a great
place to look for similar/competitive books for your proposals
too—everything you need to discover how a book is alike or different
from yours for the marketing portion of your proposal.
More exciting news!
ACFW is sending three of our
officers (publicity officer, president, and vice president) to ICRS
(International Christian Retail Show) June 27–30, 2010 in St. Louis,
MO. Our job is to promote www.fictionfinder.com to
booksellers, publishers, and industry professionals. If you’re in St.
Louis, please come to the Americas Center and visit our booth or attend
the workshop on starting book clubs and how best to use the tools in www.fictionfinder.com.
Are you a scheduled author at
ICRS? If so, please contact me for more information on the ACFW booth,
to donate a book to the prize drawings, and to share your book-signing
schedule. I’ll compile the information to share with those attending
ICRS. We’re thrilled to give away a book bag full of prizes each day of
the ICRS event but cannot ship everything. Please bring your book(s) to
the ACFW booth on Sunday, June 27 to be included in the special daily
drawings for attendees. Between ACFW, fictionfinder, the workshop, and
the book bag drawings, we hope to raise awareness of the tools
available to writers, readers, booksellers, distributors, publicists,
and publishers. We plan to revolutionize the industry with the
excellent opportunity that www.fictionfinder.com provides.
If St. Louis isn’t in your
travel plans, please visit www.fictionfinder.com and play for a bit.
Enjoy finding the next book you want to read and reading about your
favorite authors. Be sure to e-mail me if your favorite Christian
fiction authors haven’t uploaded their info yet so I can pester them
for you. We want to provide the best experience for all who trust ACFW
to be the voice of Christian fiction. You can reach me at pr@acfw.com.
Reminder to put excitement
into your life!
Remember the Life and Faith Tour
has at least ten ACFW authors per tour stop this summer, beginning June
19 in Richmond, Virginia. More information is available at www.lifeandfaithtour.com
for tickets and all day festival fun. Meet ACFW authors for a book
signing, hear them speak at the Author’s Tent, and enjoy connecting in
a family atmosphere full of music, entertainment, and joy. You can see
which authors will be at each city by clicking on Authors from the Life
and Faith Tour home page. The three cities this year are Richmond,
Virginia; Rockingham, North Carolina; and Atlanta, Georgia. All three
cities have major speedways. The main stage and concert event will be
in the huge speedway arenas. If you have questions about ACFW, I’ll be
at the first two tour stops.
When you buy those tickets for
the twelve-hour Christian family festival, please remember to specify
ACFW Scholarship Fund as your charity of choice. Why? Each ticket sold
to the Life and Faith Tour benefits a charity with $10—and you get to
pick who benefits from yours!
ACFW Scholarship Fund helps
authors get an education and the industry opportunities they otherwise
could not afford. Each scholarship applicant submits an essay and goes
through a three-level process to win. We hope you’ll value great
fiction for generations to come by supporting this unique gift to the
scholarship fund.
One last request as we go into
this busy season: Would you consider sharing both ICRS and Life and
Faith Tour information on your social networks? When we pull together,
we reach more people. Would you help ACFW communicate this powerful
information to the people in your circle of influence? Remember,
there’s one major announcement coming out at ICRS.
Always looking for ways to
promote ACFW and our authors.
